sspo that doesn't surprise me, how could elders have family studies with all the other responsibilites and prep work they have to do. I would have hated to have been an elders wife or child, I would have never seen the man or spent much time with him. Atleast with other churches, the clergy is a paid position and that's their job, to shepherd the flock and visit and do what needs to be done, not like the elders that need to work full time, and then go in service, prepare for their parts, visit people in the cong and deal with their problems with no training.

What the Family Worship Evening Arrangement Really Entails
by cantleave inas most people here know the combined book study allows an evening for "family worship".. the co visits march - august 2009 is really focussing on this.
if a jdub family head doesn't do a full evening of family worship and uses this time to do recreational activities he is as guilty as isrealite who didn't use the sabbath for worship.
the result, will of course be same as the unfaithful isrealite, death!!!!!!!!!

MY APOLOGIES TO ALL
by Mary inlooking back over the last few weeks, i think i've been unnessarily rude to some posters and i just want to apologize to anyone who has been on the receiving end of my anger recently.. i believe that i'm so angry, dismayed, devastated and heartbroken over what's happening to my brother in law, that i've been taking it out on others and that's not right.
it makes absolutely no difference what i think of the wts as a whole, or whether or not americans have a universal healthcare system......none of that makes any difference whatsoever when someone you love and has been like your brother for 35 years is dying and there's not a fucking thing we can do about it.. my sister just called me and there's more bad news, and that's that his disease has now progressed into the acute myeloid leukemia which means he cannot start the therapy they were going to give him, as this is far more serious now.
they want to start chemo right away, but his blood counts aren't up high enough for him to survive.

MY B-I-L IS IN THE HOSPITAL
by Mary inhere's another update on my brother in law:.
my sister and b-i-l went to the cancer center in toronto earlier this week to see about getting the stemcell transplant for his disease.
it was actually an encouraging visit as the oncologist there said that they did not feel his condition had progressed into the acute myloid leukemia yet and that he had longer---up to 2 years---than what his local oncologist had said.

How Many Personally Heard F. W. Franz Speak?
by snowbird ini believe i did in 1974, but i was just coming into the org and didn't realize the significance of the part he played.. it was a sunday at a stadium on the campus of the university of alabama in tuscaloosa.
all the "friends" were almost beside themselves with excitement, so looking back, it must have been f. w. franz!.
i'd worked until 6 pm that saturday night, had a one year old teething child, and had to arise at 3 am to get ready for the bus trip.. when we arrived, the weather had turned colder, the stadium was quite warm, and i fell asleep a few minutes into the talk.

Heard him several times. My congregation in Acton, Ontario, was very close to Bethel, and when he'd come visit Bethel, many times he's pay a special visit to our hall, we'd hear him speak and then have a lunch for him afterwards.

why I don't flip off women drivers
by John Doe ini was riding to work yesterday when i observed a female driver who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her.
this evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and gave the woman the finger.
'man, that guy is stupid,' i thought to myself.

A guy friend sent this to me
This morning on highway 401, I looked over to my left and there
was a Woman in a brand new Cadillac doing 110 km/h With her Face up
next to her Rear view mirror Putting on her eyeliner.
I looked away for a couple seconds and when I looked back she was
Halfway over in my lane, Still working on that makeup.
As a man, I don't scare easily.
But she scared me so much; I dropped My electric shaver, Which knocked
The donut Out of my other hand. In all The confusion of trying To
straighten out the car Using my knees against The steering wheel, it
knocked my cell phone away from my ear which fell into the coffee
between my legs, splashed, and burned Big Jim and the Twins, ruined
the darn phone, soaked my trousers, and disconnected an important
call.
Darn women drivers -

The traffic attendants really don't know what they are doing. I've been to venues at the Aud where the assemblies are held, and there is usually way more people (sold out seats) and everyone gets out of the parking lots just fine without the attendants in ties standing around doing nothing.

Holy Cannoli!!!
by Dagney inmy assistant, (1 year), tells me she went to the bet awards sunday, her boyfriend is in law enforcement and i guess got a ticket for her.
so we were talking about mj's dad, joe jackson, and she said how embarassing he is.. then she says, "you know, they were raised jw.
" then she proceeds to tell me she studied and married a jw, and was involved with the jw's for 18 years, never baptized.

PrimateDave has a good suggestion. Have all your facts lined up about why you don't believe, arm yourslef with information to prove it and get your point across to them in a respectiful non confrontational way. The second they think you are apostate they will shut you down and out. You have to do it in a way that doesn't seem obvious.
OTOH, you may just have a few friends that believe the same way you do. I remember sitting in a freezing cold car in the dead of winter with my g/f at the time, waiting for a couple to finish their call/study. She told me she really hated FS. That took guts for her to admit, and I wish I could have had the strenght to tell her that I felt the same way. She left, I left, she moved, I moved, but we have recently found each other on Facebook and through her sister that also left.
You never know what might happen when you start to open up, but if these so called friends abandon you because of your personal beliefs and convictions, can you really call them your friends?

Have you ever had your palm read, fortune told, or read your horoscope etc?
by restrangled inafter reading the ouji board thread, i wondered if anyone had "dared" anything of this nature.. i was always too scared to even watch movies with any of this content.
i do read my horoscope.
my great aunt was into the occult and she was told she would die before she was 50 when she was in her 30's.

I've had my palm read (first time she was way off base), and tarot cards read, have a number for a psycic that my cousin gave me that I might go see. The last time I had my tarot done was about a year ago, and during the part of the reading that had to do with my present sitution, she was so accurate the hairs on the back of my neck stood up!
